Haunted Day Day 6: Tricked Or Treated

Sorry this is delayed everyone, lost power last night cause of hurricane Sandy!

Some books aren't at all what you expected—which can be good or bad. Today feature five books you read that were either a pleasant or nasty surprise.

1) My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Oh my god. I am so glad I decided to purchase this book. It was one of those books I was on the fence about, and I was so surprised by how much I adored it. It's a great book, and I seriously recommend it to anyone and everyone.

2) The Girl In the Steel Corset by Kady Cross
With so many good reviews, I thought I would like this book. Unfortunately  I disliked it and couldn't even finish it. Incase you guys haven't noticed...one of my biggest vices is not finishing books.

3) Waterfall by Lisa Tawn Bergren
This book isn't in my usual choice of genre (Historical/Time Travelesque,) and

so I didn't expect to like it.

Except..I adored it. The whole series was incredible.

4) Mesmerized by Julia Crane
I really thought I would adore this book. Unfortunately, I really disliked it.

I finished it but I really had to put in effort to do so. The main character wasn't my favorite (whiney-girl syndrome,) and the plot was all over the place.

Wasn't really what I expected.

5) A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger
The plot seemed incredibly boring on this one, but after seeing some positive reviews I decided to give it a shot.

I am so glad I did because I loved it! The characters were original and realistic, the plot was surprisingly intense, and there was so much emotion in this book.

  1. Hope you're okay in Hurricane Sandy! It's like the first hurricane that hasn't hit anywhere near my home. :P

That's exciting about Life Next Door—I've wanted to read it for the longest time, so I'm glad it's good! (:

  2. Ooh, My Life Next Door is so good--like, amazingly good. Never want to read another book, GOOD. I've read Girl in the Steel Corset, and I liked it all right, but it wasn't a love for me. I keep hearing good things about Waterfall, but I haven't read it yet.

The Julia Crane one, though--I disliked one of her books, but I'm not going to throw them all in one pile. I'll probably read more by her, but I don't know for sure.

Psst...I love Kody Keplinger! Have you read The DUFF? Amazingness on a stick! I can't wait to read A Midsummer's Nightmare!

    1. Ahh we are book soul sisters. My Life Next Door... was incredible. I'm not certain anything will ever live up to it...

Girl in the Steel Corset wasn't my favorite..the writing style wasn't my taste.
      Julia Crane's wasn't terrible...I just didn't love it.

And YES I read The DUFF. I loved it. Kody Keplinger is my girl. I also read Shut Out, which I adored. She's an all around great writer, I doubt she will ever disappoint.
